Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support and lead civil engineering works across major Power & Renewables projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support civil engineering works across all project stages: tender, design, construction, and post-construction.

  • Develop and review preliminary civil designs (earthworks, drainage, access, structures, compounds).

  • Carry out risk assessments for ground conditions, flooding, services, and environmental factors.

  • Manage and coordinate external civil designers and subcontractors.

  • Ensure civil designs align with specifications, client requirements, and value engineering principles.

  • Provide civil engineering oversight during construction, including site audits and design compliance checks.

  • Support commercial teams with contract data, sub-contractor packages, and cost/time variations.

  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of civil engineering processes.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.

Requirements

  • Degree/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, ideally including 2+ years in Power & Renewables.

  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK & Ireland.

  • Flexible working available (minimum 2 days office-based preferred).

Plant Director – Oman

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Director to lead all aspects of plant operations, fleet maintenance, equipment procurement, and asset management for a major civil infrastructure contractor operating across the Middle East. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, cost-efficiency, and operational readiness of roadwork and heavy equipment fleets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and optimize the performance of the plant and equipment department.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of roadwork machinery (pavers, graders, rollers, dozers, etc.).
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize uptime.
  • Manage large-scale procurement of plant equipment, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting systems for fleet performance and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and maintenance best practices.
  • Lead and mentor teams including plant managers, engineers, workshop supervisors, and storekeepers.
  • Liaise closely with project managers, procurement teams, and finance for alignment on operational goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 10–20 years of experience in plant and fleet management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong background in managing equipment for road construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in fleet procurement, CAPEX planning, and vendor management.
  • Technical expertise in heavy machinery maintenance and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Experience in the Middle East or a strong understanding of regional logistics, supply chains, and workforce dynamics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
