Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the full commercial management of construction projects, ensuring successful delivery, effective risk control, and maximised financial returns. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, and wider team, the role leads on commercial strategy, contractual matters, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own commercial strategy, reporting, and financial performance
  • Manage procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Administer contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT) and manage claims/disputes
  • Monitor risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies
  • Lead and mentor junior commercial staff
  • Support tenders and provide reports to senior management
  • Engage with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or related)
  • Strong experience in D&B and high-value projects (€5m+)
  • Solid commercial, contractual, and negotiation skills

Desirable

  • Chartered status (e.g. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building)
  • Ongoing CPD in commercial and legal practice
